In 2023 Stonnington Symphony will celebrate 40 years of community music-making!
With historical links dating back to the 1920s, the orchestra was officially formed in 1983 as the Malvern Symphony Orchestra under the guidance of cellist Janis Laurs. Since its inception, Stonnington Symphony has been an organisation committed to being of and for its local community, actively encouraging anyone interested in symphonic music to become involved in its activities as players, members or volunteers.
Join Artistic Director Roy Theaker, soprano Lee Abrahmsen and Stonnington Symphony as we celebrate 40 incredible years of community music-making.Considered one of the first examples of Modernism, Stravinky’s epic masterpiece The Rite of Spring will set the Malvern Town Hall alight.
This program also features the world premiere of the 40th Anniversary Artistic Development Fund Commission written by Evan Lawson.
You do not want to miss this opportunity to raise a glass to the past and future of your community orchestra.
