This November, experience the capstone Mahler event of the year when internationally renowned conductor Alexander Briger returns home to lead the acclaimed Australian World Orchestra, performing one of the 20th century’s most celebrated masterpieces, Mahler 9.

Universally revered as one of the leading composers of his generation, Gustav Mahler was a bridging force between musical styles of the 19th and the 20th centuries. A major influence on subsequent generations of musicians, revered American master-conductor Leonard Bernstein described Mahler’s Symphony No. 9 as “Terrifying, and paralysing; the strands of sound disintegrate … in ceasing, we lose it all. But in Mahler’s ceasing, we have gained everything.”
