DESCRIPTION:Following their triumphant performance of J.S. Bach’s St Matthew Passion on Good Friday at Melbourne Recital Centre\, the Melbourne Bach Choir returns with Rachmaninov’s All Night Vigil (Opus 37)\, plus Art Songs by Ukrainian composer Jul’ij Meitus. Proudly presented by the MBC Chamber Choir\, the second of four celebratory 20th anniversary concerts is at St John’s Church\, Camberwell on 12 June 2026 at 7.30pm. \nMelbourne Bach Chamber Choir’s winter offering features conductor Rick Prakhoff and soloists mezzo-soprano Belinda Paterson\, tenor Michael Petrucelli and bass Aleksander Pokryshevsky\, accompanied in the Ukrainian Art songs by Kathryn Pisani. Rachmaninov’s All Night Vigil (also known as ‘The Vespers’) will be sung in Church Slavonic\, the liturgical language for all non-Greek churches in the Orthodox tradition\, and promises thrill\, challenge\, and personal significance as each soloist brings their own unique and individual perspective.

SUMMARY:Melbourne Bach Choir's Christmas Fanfare 2025
DESCRIPTION:To round out a year of wonderful choral singing\, Melbourne Bach Choir and Melbourne Bach Chamber Choir present a programme of music for the Christmas season. Choral pieces by composers from 16th Century to 21st Century include both familiar and lesser known composers. Well-known carols programmed for audience participation\, brass and organ accompaniment supplement this exciting programme.  \nAlong with the traditional music of Christmas\, the concert also includes works by composers Herbert Howells\, Cecilia McDowall and Johnathon Dove. We are excited to programme Dr Calvin Bowman’s new setting of Jacaranda Carol by Australian poet Mark Tredinnick\, commissioned by Melbourne Bach Choir for Choir\, brass and organ\, with the support of the Peggy & Leslie Cranbourne Foundation. Melbourne.  Bach Choir Scholars will have the pleasure of presenting John Tavener’s beautiful setting of Blake’s poem The Lamb. The highlight for many will of course be the familiar carols\, accompanied by brass and with opportunities for audience participation.
