DESCRIPTION:Gloriana’s first concert for 2019 – our 25th anniversary season – is a programme of musical riches for the Easter season. Palestrina’s majestic double-choir Stabat Mater and Tallis’ eloquent Lamentations are both classics. Allegri’s beloved Miserere\, involving three groups of singers\, finds a contemporary reflection in Catalan composer Bernat Vivancos’ setting of this powerful psalm. \nBrumel’s Missa et ecce terræ motus thrills with its welter of canonic detail. James Macmillan’s Tenebrae Responsories bring us right into the Passion of Christ with choral writing of staggering emotional power. This programme will make a deep impression on singers and audience alike.
