DESCRIPTION:Baltic composers have written some of the most outstanding choral music of our time and this program\, the fourth in our 2017 subscription series\, brings together a magnificent collection of works by pre-eminent composers. \nUģis Prauliņš\, in his Missa Rigensis\, reinvigorates the age-old words of the Mass by bringing in folk music influences\, improvisation and a unique approach to building choral textures. This a startling and wholly original work. \nThe potency of Arvo Pärt’s setting of The Beatitudes depends as much on the notes as the silences between them. Ēriks Ešenvalds In Paradisum moves us through its lush harmonies\, richness of scoring and inspired use of solo string instruments.
