SUMMARY:Melbourne Chamber Orchestra: Vivaldi's Four Seasons
DESCRIPTION:MCO brings to life Vivaldi’s vivid\, innovative masterpiece with four brilliant soloists.\nProgram\nArcangelo Corelli – Concerto Grosso in D\, Op.6\, No.4 \nCalvin Bowman – Daylesford Music \nAntonio Vivaldi – The Four Seasons \nAbout the concert\nVivaldi would be totally astonished by the fame of his Four Seasons today. As a priest working in an orphanage\, most of his music was only heard by a small circle of people in Venice\, and almost all of it was forgotten\, lost or disregarded for nearly two centuries after his death. The Four Seasons is not just well-known: it’s one of the most exciting\, colourful and innovative works from the Baroque era. Each concerto is accompanied by a sonnet\, and the hallmarks of each Italian season\, from birdsong in Spring to pesky flies in Summer\, are imagined in amazingly vivid musical form. \nThe orchestra is delighted to premiere Calvin Bowman’ s Daylesford Music\, commissioned by the people of Daylesford. \n\nSunday 28 August 2.30pm & Thursday 1 September 7.30pm; MRC\, Elisabeth Murdoch Hall \nDuration: 2 hours (incl. interval) \n\n\nTICKETS\n\n\nPremium $143 ($133 Concession)\nA Reserve $121 ($107 Concession)\nB Reserve $96 ($85 Concession)\nC Reserve $70 ($58 Concession) \nGroup 10+\nPremium $121.55; A Reserve $102.85; B Reserve $81.60; C Reserve $59.50 \nUnder 40 A & B Reserve $40    Student $30

SUMMARY:SCHUBERT: GRAND DUO
DESCRIPTION:KIAZMA Piano Duo brings together the talents of pianists Tomoe Kawabata and Aura Go. \nEqually at home in twopiano and four-hand repertoire from the Baroque to the present day\, KIAZMA shares the unique combination of intimacy\, intricacy and dynamism that each genre has to offer. \nAtop the summit of Schubert’s unparalleled achievements in the four-hand repertoire sits the remarkable Sonata in C ‘Grand Duo’ of 1824. KIAZMA Piano Duo gives audiences a rare opportunity to experience this epic work\, one of the most glorious and significant neglected works by a major composer\, in concert. The sublime Variations in A-flat on an Original Theme was composed in the same year\, and\, together with the Grand Duo\, mark Schubert’s rediscovery of a sense of “happiness and peace”.
