DESCRIPTION:Students from the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School return to the Melbourne Recital Centre for another triumphant concert.\nOpening with a world premiere commission by Australian Art Orchestra Artistic Director Peter Knight\, Luminous provides a platform for exploration and discovery for an augmented improvisation ensemble. Under the baton of Melbourne-born\, Vienna-based maestro Warrick Stengårds\, Schumann’s glorious Symphony No.3 will resound with the panache and exuberance of the VCASS Symphony Orchestra. \nFollowing the interval\, Stengårds leads a cast of more than 120 musicians and choristers for the world premiere commission Magalu Gaangu | Beginning Here. Composed by Yorta Yorta woman\, and Melbourne-based pioneer and stalwart Deborah Cheetham AO\, VCASS students breathe life into Cheetham’s text sung in the beautiful local Boon Wurrung language.
