SUMMARY:Heidelberg Choral Society and Orchestra: Brahms Requiem
DESCRIPTION:Heidelberg Choral Society and Orchestra\, in conjunction with the West Gippsland Chorale\, present Brahms’ Ein deutsches Requiem together with Loughlin’s St Cecilia’s Day on Sunday August 18. \nThe much-loved choral masterpiece Ein deutsches Requiem is a firm favourite with choristers and audiences alike. Unlike traditional requiems focused on salvation\, Brahms’ libretto and arresting score emphasise comfort and solace for the living.\nThe lyrical and melodic St Cecilia’s Day\, composed by George Loughlin in 1948\, is set to John Dryden’s poem ‘A Song for St Cecilia’s Day’\, written in 1687. \nThe choir of 120 singers and symphony orchestra are conducted by Peter Bandy with soloists Rebecca Rashleigh (soprano) and Christopher Tonkin (baritone). Associate conductor is Nathan Byrne.  Join us for an afternoon of inspiring singing and superbly orchestrated music. \nSunday 18 August 2024 | 2.30pm \nGeorge Wood Performing Arts Centre\, Yarra Valley Grammar\, 84-90 Kalinda Rd\, Ringwood \nTicket prices: $60 / $55 conc / $35 student \nBookings: “http://www.eticks.com.au/BR”>www.eticks.com.au/BR (Scroll down to Session and 2.30pm option) \nFor more information: “http://www.hcs.asn.au”>www.hcs.asn.au “https://www.facebook.com/heidelbergchoralsociety/”>Heidelberg Choral Society | Facebook
