SUMMARY:Melbourne Bach Choir: A Christmas Fanfare
DESCRIPTION:A Christmas Fanfare: a feast of music for choir and brass\nChoral masterworks from four centuries and favourite traditional carols \nMelbourne Bach Choir welcomes the Christmas season with A Christmas Fanfare – a concert of choral pieces by composers from Sweelink to Pinkham via Palestrina\, Poulenc\, Britten and more\, of course including Bach. Well-known carols are programmed for audience participation. \nThe full Melbourne Bach Choir and the MBC Chamber Choir will be conducted by founding Artistic Director Rick Prakhoff and accompanied by organist Calvin Bowman and a brass ensemble of trumpets\, horn\, trombone and tuba. \nWe all love the familiar\, traditional music of Christmas\, but the concert also includes some less familiar works\, including two different tellings of the Nativity story in Poulenc’s joyful Christmas Motets and the charming Christmas Cantata with organ and brass instruments by Daniel Pinkham. The Poulenc motets and some other works will feature the MBC Chamber Choir with our Scholars as conductors.
