DESCRIPTION:Affinity Collective Presents New Music by Jack Symonds\nBallantyne Series 2  \n\nFounded by cellist and ANAM Fellow Mee Na Lojewski\, Affinity Collective provides listeners with an inside experience of contemporary chamber music while promoting new compositions and collaborations. Affinity Collective’s 2015 program explores an Australian composer’s connection with experimental aesthetics of European music of the past century.\n\n\n\nIn this concert Mee Na will perform the world première of Jack Symonds’ Schattensfere for Solo Cello\, which is dedicated to the memory of the Polish composer\, Andrzej Panufnik. Also on the program is Panufnik’s String quartet no. 3 comprising five miniatures and nicknamed “Wycinanki” after the Polish rustic art of papercuts\, and Alexander von Zemlinsky’s forty-minute wartime masterpiece\, the String quartet no. 2. Affinity Collective will be joined for this concert by ANAM alumni guest musicians Peter Clark and Christopher Cartlidge. \n\nPANUFNIK String quartet no. 3\nSYMONDS Schattensfere for solo cello (premiere)\nZEMLINSKY String quartet no. 2\, op. 15\nFor more information and to book tickets\, please visit affinitycollective.com \n
