A very fussy Prince is perpetually dissatisfied with the parade of Princesses introduced as potential brides and wonders if he’ll ever meet his true love. One evening\, a young Princess arrives at the castle drenched with rain and seeking shelter. The Prince is captivated by her\, but she must first prove herself a true Princess. A single pea is hidden beneath a tower of mattresses to test her Royal sensitivities. \nAmerican-emigrant composer Ernst Toch’s musical rendition of Hans Christian Andersen’s treasured story The Princess and the Pea receives its Australian premiere. This charming 50-minute family production is sung in German by a cast of opera’s brightest talent.
