SUMMARY:Seraphim Trio – Gallic Charm
DESCRIPTION:A performance of cherished works and Gallic beauty.\nAbout the artists\nSeraphim Trio is as much a lifelong friendship as a chamber ensemble. Acclaimed for its encyclopedic projects and inventive collaborations\, their sonic cohesion and uniform musical mastery is a constant in all its performances. \nProgram\nGermaine Tailleferre Piano Trio \nElizabeth Younan Piano Trio \nMaurice Ravel Piano Trio in A minor\, M.67 \nAbout the concert\nIn this concert Seraphim Trio presents the beloved Ravel piano trio alongside a rarely heard trio of Ravel’s student and compatriot\, Germaine Tailleferre. Taillferre began work on her trio in 1916 (just two years after Ravel composed his)\, but it was not until sixty years later that she completed it on a commission from the French Ministry of Culture. As the only female member of Les Six\, Taillferre was vehemently original in style. Her trio\, filled with Gallic beauty\, will be one of this year’s uplifting discoveries. \n\nMonday 1 August 2022 6pm; Primrose Potter Salon \nDuration: 1 hour 10 mins (no interval) \n\n\nTICKETS Standard $50 ($40 Concession)

SUMMARY:Seraphim Trio and Chris Moore
DESCRIPTION:Sonic cohesion and uniform musical mastery.\nProgram\nBrett Dean Imaginary Ballet \nDora Pejačević Piano Quartet\, Op.25 \nAbout the artists\nHelen Ayres violin\nAnna Goldsworthy piano\nTimothy Nankervis cello\nChristopher Moore viola \nSeraphim Trio is as much a lifelong friendship as a chamber ensemble. Acclaimed for its encyclopedic projects and inventive collaborations\, their sonic cohesion and uniform musical mastery is a constant in all its performances. \nAbout the concert\nTheir performance in Primrose Potter Salon will seem them collaborate with violist Christopher Moore to present Imaginary Ballet\, the breathtaking new composition by Brett Dean. \nInspired by Brett’s lockdown listening\, Imaginary Ballet is a suite of fast\, dance-like movements which carry rhythmic drive and bullish\, effervescent energy. A series of slower interludes endows the work with oases of silhouettes and shadows\, at the centre of which is an elegy to Brett’s dear friend and former viola teacher\, John Curro. \nPaired with a rarely heard piano quartet by one of Croatia’s most important 20th century composers\, Dora Pejačević. Written in late Romantic style\, the quartet is a blend of warm\, lyrical melody and spirited dance. Mozart’s Piano Quartet in G minor remains a cornerstone of the repertoire and is the first major piece composed for the genre. \n\nThursday 26 May 2022 6pm\, Primrose Potter Salon \nDuration: 1 hour (no interval) \n\n\nTICKETS Standard $50 ($40 Concession)
