Across thirty variations\, Bach weaves complexity\, joy\, tenderness\, and brilliance into an intricate architectural whole\, a testament to the boundless imagination of the Baroque. \nPerformed on harpsichord\, as Bach intended\, Helyard’s interpretation reveals the clarity\, intimacy\, and vitality often lost on modern instruments. Each variation unfolds like a miniature world\, alive with wit\, colour\, and emotion. DESCRIPTION:An evening of sumptuous French Baroque delights.\nIn 1682\, Louis XIV initiated the ‘Fêtes d’appartement’\, a series of festivities in the intimate rooms of the Grand Apartments at the Palace of Versailles. What took place was a variety of entertainments for the enjoyment of the king and his favourites. Here\, Pinchgut presents theatrical representations of two of these divertissements: ‘tiny operas’ by Charpentier. \nAn exceptional artistic team\, and line up of outstanding soloists are joined by an expert ensemble of instrumentalists to deliver a musical experience for our audiences to relish. \nThis is a delightful evening of refined decadence and sophisticated pleasures\, a perfect moment to celebrate the glorious music of the French Baroque\, and the sweet simplicity of life itself. \nPlease note\, to ensure Pinchgut Opera provides the best possible concert experience for their audience and artists\, Pleasures of Versailles will perform for one date only\, on Thursday 14 September.
