SUMMARY:Peninsula Summer Music Festival 2026: Ensenble 642 - BAROQUE BY CANDLE LIGHT
DESCRIPTION:Plucked-string virtuosi Ensemble 642 is the inspired pairing of Hannah Lane (Baroque harp) and Nicholas Pollock (theorbo\, lutes\, baroque guitar)\, two of Australia’s leading specialists in the performance of baroque music. ‘Meditatio’ entwines the shimmering voices of baroque harp and theorbo with masterworks by Bach\, Buxtehude\, and Strozzi\, in dialogue with the serene minimalism of contemporary composers John Cage and Mamoru Fujieda\, inviting listeners to immerse themselves in a sonic landscape of contemplation and renewal. Hear Ensemble 642 uncover the shimmering textures and poetic depth of early plucked string repertoire\, bringing rarely heard gems into vivid life. \nPROGRAM\nMAMORU FUJIEDA Patterns of Plants\nBARBARA STROZZI Che si puó fare?\nG. SUMMARY:Peninsula Summer Music Festival 2025: Life in Light Years - Georgina Lewis
DESCRIPTION:Life in Light Years – Georgina Lewis\n\n\nSunday 5 January\, 6pm\n\n\n\n\n\nSt John’s Anglican Church\, 50 Barker Rd\, Flinders \nTickets: $65 \nWine available for purchase prior to performance \nA 60 minute performance \nGeorgina Lewis presents Greenbaum’s epic\, hour-long piano sonata immersive experience\, Traversing a tapestry of human emotion and endeavour in time and distance. Profoundly existential in conception\, Greenbaum and Lewis come together in this unique project to push the boundaries of how minimalism can be redefined in the new Millennium. \nRecognised for her thoughtful programming and ‘unfiltered’ musicality\, pianist Georgina Lewis has gained a reputation for her sensitive performances and distinct approach to curation\, which focuses on minimalism\, music by women\, and stories from off the beaten path. The piano\, that strange and exquisite vehicle for beauty and self-expression\, has taken Georgina from the Melbourne Recital Centre to fortyfivedownstairs and Alpha60 Chapter House; as well as a bluestone watertower at the Western Treatment Plant and a ‘migrating’ stage in the grounds of Coolart Homestead. \nThe Stuart Greenbaum sound has overt connections to jazz\, pop and minimalism but is equally grounded in the Western art music tradition. He is the author of over 235 works including 26 sonatas\, 8 string quartets\, 5 piano trios\, 7 concertos\, 6 symphonies and 2 operas. In 2023 he signed a global publishing contract with Wise Music G. Schirmer Australia. Having studied composition with Broadstock and Conyngham at the University of Melbourne\, Greenbaum now holds a position in the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music as Professor\, having also served as Head of Composition from 2007 to 2023. \nSit back and be taken on a musical journey with Greenbaum’s music expertly interpreted by Melbourne’s own Georgina Lewis. \nPROGRAM \nStuart Greenbaum: Life in Light Years (Piano Sonata No. 3) *World Premiere \nMUSICIAN \nPiano – Georgina Lewis
