SUMMARY:A Family Affair (Music of JS Bach and Sons)
DESCRIPTION:The Melbourne Musicians directed by Frank U.Pam play works by JS Bach and his four very talented sons\, with two outstanding soloists. \nAustralian-Swiss flautist Bridget Bolliger has been hailed by Fanfare as “the very essence of what flute sound should be”. She has been Principal Flute and soloist with several European and Australian orchestras and in South America. in 2017 she celebrated her 10th anniversary as Artistic director and Founder of the Sydney Chamber Music Festival. Bridget will play CPE Bach’s Flute Concerto in A major. \nSoprano Sarah Lobegeiger de Rodriguez has a  Master of Opera from Bulgaria where she has sung principal roles in several operas and performed in important national and international festivals. She was a semi-finalist in the MTO 2015 German Australia Opera Grant. Sarah will sing 2 arias from JS Bach’s much-loved Coffee Cantata. The first aria has a flute obbligato (played by Bridget) which depicts the aroma of coffee wafting in the air.      The program includes a quirky sinfonia by the black sheep of the family\, wilful Wilhelm Friedemann Bach\, a surprisingly emotional sinfonia by the almost unknown Johann Christoph Friedrich Bach and a delightfully mozartian sinfonietta by the youngest son\, Johann Christian Bach.

SUMMARY:More Telemann
DESCRIPTION:The Melbourne Musicians directed by Frank U. Pam present another program celebrating the 250th Anniversary of the death of Georg Philipp Telemann (1681-1767). In his lifetime Telemann was more famous than his friends Bach and Handel. \nThere are three popular works on the program: Canary Cantata; Viola Concerto in G major; Trumpet Concerto in D major. Soloists are Tania de Jong AM soprano; Frank pam viola; Mark Fritzpatrick trumpet. \nTelemann wrote about 2000 religious and secular cantatas. The Canary Cantata on the death of his pet canary is the most personal and the most humorous. \nThe Viola Concerto is the first viola concerto and is still popular today and the Trumpet Concerto is one of the finest baroque trumpet concertos. \nThe program also includes two Mannheim Symphonies by Johann Stamitz (1717-1757) who founded the famous Mannheim orchestra which greatly influenced Mozart and many others.

SUMMARY:TELEMANN 250
DESCRIPTION:The Melbourne Musicians directed by Frank U.\, Pam present the first of 2 concerts commemorating the 250th anniversary of the great German baroque composer Georg Philipp Telemann (16781-1767). \nOutstanding soloists Anne Harvey-Nagl violin\, Anne Gilby oboe and Sarah Lobegeiger de Rodriguez soprano perform Telemann Violin Concertos in A minor and G major; Oboe Concerto in F minor; Concerto for Oboe & Violin in C minor; Ascension Cantata “Gott will Mensch und sterblich werden”. Handel arias from Julius Caesar\, Rinaldo and Joshua. In his lifetime Telemann was more famous and more universally admired than his friends Bach and Handel. \nAfter a period of relative neglect (he was so prolific that he was thought to be superficial and too facile) his music is being re-evaluated and recognised for its endless inventiveness. He is regarded as an important forerunner of the Classical style.
