SUMMARY:BEFORE THE MORNING STAR: Hamer Singers\, directed by Jonathan Grieves-Smith
DESCRIPTION:Internationally renowned Scottish composer\, Sir James MacMillan\, has written an extraordinary collection of motets\, known as the Strathclyde Motets\, burning with faith\, refracting the language of the great Renaissance composers through a contemporary prism and the inflections of Scottish folk music. These are the superb successors to fellow Scot Robert Ramsey’s three exquisite motets composed in the first years of the 17th century while organist at Trinity College\, Cambridge. \nBookings: https://www.trybooking.com/BAJTB

SUMMARY:Hamer Singers: The Falling of the Leaves
DESCRIPTION:…let all my senses spread out and touch this world at thy feet\, like a raincloud of July hung low with its burden of unshed showers.\nRabindranath Tagore \nUģis Prauliņš’ spectacular Mass for Riga Cathedral forms the backbone of this extraordinary program of music from Spain\, Estonia\, Sweden\, Italy and Slovakia. Movements from the Mass are interspersed with exquisite motets: Handl’s Ecce quomodo; Palestrina’s ethereal vision Sicut Cervus and Tarrodi’s setting of Yeats’ ‘The Falling of the Leaves’. The program tapestry culminates in Ešenvalds’ joyous setting of Rabindranath Tagore’s words.
