DESCRIPTION:We’re inviting clarinet players of all ages and abilities to come experience a day at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music! This jam-packed day will provide participants with the opportunity to engage in masterclasses\, rehearsals\, panel discussions\, meet with like-minded musicians and perform some incredible music with our Mega Day Clarinet Choir. \nClarinet Mega Day 2024 will be a truly unforgettable experience\, featuring a special guest\, world renowned clarinettist David Shifrin (US). David will share his expertise and inspire participants with his incredible talent\, an opportunity not to be missed. \nThe exciting series of events will culminate in a Clarinet Mega Day Showcase Concert\, showcase performances by David Griffiths and the Conservatorium Mega Day Clarinet Choir \nAbout David Shifrin \nSchedule\n10:00AM – 10:20AM  Registration  (The Ian Potter Southbank Centre Foyer)\n10:20AM – 10:30AM Welcome with David Griffiths\n10:30AM – 11:00AM Warm up session with David Griffiths\, Hanson Dyer Hall\n11:00AM – 12:00PM VCE Masterclasses with David Griffiths and Masterclasses with Mega Day Artists\n12:00PM – 1:00PM Lunch Break – Open Stage Concert\n1:00PM – 2:30PM Masterclass with David Shifrin\n2:30PM – 2:45PM Break\n2:45PM – 3:45PM Panel Discussion and Q & A with David Shifrin\, David Griffiths \n4:00PM – 5:15PM Mass Clarinet Choir Rehearsal (Hanson Dyer Hall\, Level 3) \n5:30PM-7:00PM Final Concert featuring David Shifrin and the Conservatorium Mega Day Clarinet Choir! \n\nRehearsals\, Workshops and Masterclasses\nWarm Up Session with David Griffiths \n10.30AM – 11:00AM\, Hanson Dyer Hall \nA welcome way to start the day\, with warm up exercises and techniques\, run by David Griffiths. \nMasterclasses with Mega Day Artists \n11AM — 12PM and 1PM — 2.30PM \nParticipants will be able to participate and observe in masterclasses with the Clarinet Mega Day Artists: \n11AM – 12PM \nDavid Griffiths (VCE focused Masterclass) \n1PM – 2.30PM  \nDavid Shifrin \nParticipants will be able to perform a piece of music they have chosen in front of a group\, and work with the Masterclass artist on different aspects of the piece. For those wishing to participate in a masterclass\, you will be able to express your interest through the ticket booking form\, and you will be notified of the outcome on Monday 7 October. All other attendees will be welcome to attend and observe the masterclasses. \n  \nPanel Discussion and Q&A \n2.45PM — 3.45PM\, Kenneth Myer Auditorium \nDavid Griffiths will lead a panel discussion with world renowned clarinettist David Shifrin\, discussing all things clarinet! \n  \nClarinet Mega Day Clarinet Choir \n4PM — 5.15PM\, Hanson Dyer Hall \nAll participants come together to rehearse and perform works with the Mega Day Clarinet Choir. Sheet music will be provided prior to the event. \n  \nClarinet Showcase Concert \n5.30PM — 7PM\, Hanson Dyer Hall \nA showcase concert featuring David Shifran and the Conservatorium Mega Day Clarinet Choir! \n  \nEvent information: Observer/Parent/Guardian Passes\nObserver passes are available to those who wish to attend the day without participating in the rehearsals and concert performance. \nParent/Guardian passes are available for those who wish to attend the day alongside a participant aged 17 years and younger.
