The Funeral March Sonata is the first of his experimental sonatas\, and uniquely begins with a set of variations. It is followed by his jeu d’esprit\, the 5 Variations on Rule Britannia\, and finally that collection of exquisite miniatures\, the Op. 119 Bagatelles.
