SUMMARY:Australian Brandenburg Orchestra – Handel's House
DESCRIPTION:Step inside and indulge!\nFrom the moment Yukie Sato enters Handel’s House\, you’ll feel the force of her gravity. It might be the house that Handel built\, but it is this glowing soprano who makes it her own. \nThe purity of her voice is set to deliver a Handel experience with uncompromising clarity\, beckoning her audiences to surrender to the siren as she holds us in the palm of her hand\, cracks open our hearts\, and lovingly reassembles them piece by piece. \nMaking her highly anticipated Australian debut\, Japan’s Yukie Sato is the songbird who refuses to be defined or caged. Be transfixed as the international soprano takes flight through Handel’s most cherished arias. Revel in the Japanese-born\, Swiss-educated diva’s technical and innate musicality and natural charisma perfectly befitting of Handel’s distinctly Germanic approach to Italian style. \nA vocal icon that cannot be dulled\, prepare for Sato to weave a vivid tapestry that will engulf and envelope you entirely. That is her power\, wielded like a burning sword. In a rare opportunity to experience the soprano outside of Japan\, it’s your choice to shy from her brightness or surrender to her flame as she graces us for this brief but epic moment in time\, and then she is gone. \nCatch her while you can! \n\nThursday 12\, Saturday 14 & Sunday 15 September 2024 \n\nElisabeth Murdoch Hall\n\nDuration: 2 hours (incl. interval) Please note\, running times are approximate and subject to change. \n\n\n\n\nTICKETS: Premium $196\nA reserve $175 ($109 Concession)\nB reserve $127 ($79 Concession)\nC reserve $95 ($59 Concession)\nD reserve $60\nE reserve $30 \nUnder 40\nA – D reserve $40 \nSenior\nA reserve $157*\nB reserve $114* \nStudent\nA – E reserve $20 \nApplicable 5pm Sunday matinee concerts only. *

SUMMARY:Australian Brandenburg Orchestra: Notre-Dame
DESCRIPTION:A story of ritual\, revolution\, and resurrection.\nIt only took one tiny ember to spark the destruction of 800 years of history when Notre-Dame de Paris was partially consumed by fire in April 2019\, igniting collective grief for the iconic eras\, moments\, and characters embodied in her halls. \nWhile fire has the power to destroy\, it also cleanses and purifies. The ashes create a canvas and illuminate the path forward\, to bravely begin anew. Battered\, dilapidated and restored. Witness to both revolution and miracles\, the cathedral on the Île de la Cité has been an epicentre of musical innovation and choral transcendence since the first stone was laid\, and its enduring spirit deserves to be celebrated. \nSpirited\, soulful and unapologetically French\, Notre-Dame commemorates eight centuries of exquisite music performed within Notre-Dame de Paris. It is a story told in a moving theatrical experience of spoken word penned by award-winning playwright and director Alana Valentine\, spurring from the mind of Artistic Director Paul Dyer\, and brought to life by orchestral and choral music from the cathedral’s rich history. \nNotreDame goes beyond a story of grief and loss.
Revel in an opportunity to raise our hearts together as we dig through the ashes of memories\, affirming hope in the certain resurrection of the cathedral\, and indeed the human spirit\, to enter a brave new era. \n\nThursday 22\, Saturday 24 & Sunday 25 February 2024; MRC< Elisabeth Murdoch Hall \nDuration: 1 hour 45 mins (no interval) Please note\, running times are approximate and subject to change. \n\n\n\n\nTICKETS: Premium $196 – $30\nA reserve $175 ($109* Concession); B reserve $127 ($79 Concession); C reserve $95 ($59 Concession)\nD reserve $60; E reserve $30

SUMMARY:Australian Brandenburg Orchestra: Poet of the Violin
DESCRIPTION:Virtuoso’s dazzling flights of freedom.\nVivacious. Fierce. Expressive. These are just some of the words used to describe Leila Schayegh\, one of the world’s most acclaimed Baroque violinists. Making her long-awaited Australian debut\, the Swiss-Iranian musician takes to the stage as Guest Director to lead the Brandenburg through a brightly textured program of Baroque masterworks from JS Bach\, Leclair and Zelenka. \nCelebrated throughout Europe for her expressive interpretations of classical and contemporary repertoire\, Leila has carved a singular career. She performs on an instrument made in Cremona in 1675 by legendary luthier and founder of Casa Guarneri\, Andrea Guarneri. In a simple twist of fate\, the exceptionally promising\, then seven-year-old violin student\, saw the course of her musical life forever changed when she was offered the chance to become the custodian of the rare instrument. \nSince 2010\, Leila has been Professor of Baroque violin at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Basel\, Switzerland. Her performances are pure poetry and convey the freedom of a true virtuoso unrestrained by technical limitations. An unmissable season highlight. \n\nThursday 9 and Saturday 11 at 7pm\, & Sunday 12 November at 5pm 2023   MRC\, Elisabeth Murdoch Hall \nDuration: 2 hours (incl. interval) Please note\, running times are approximate and subject to change. \n\n\n\n\nTICKETS: Premium $185 A reserve $165 ($109 Concession) * B reserve $120 ($79 Concession)\nC reserve $90 ($59 Concession); D reserve $60; E reserve $30 Available for Sunday performances only* \nGroup 20+ A reserve $115; B reserve $84; C reserve $63; Senior A reserve $148; B reserve $108 \nUnder 30 A reserve $75; B reserve $54; C reserve $40; Student B reserve $79; C reserve $59

SUMMARY:Australian Brandenburg Orchestra: Ottoman Baroque
DESCRIPTION:Spellbinding visions of unity and peace\nBeautiful\, graceful\, peaceful – the Whirling Dervishes of the Sufi Mevlevi Order from Konya\, Turkey join the Brandenburg onstage. The lights dim and the mystic ceremony begins. The sounds of the Ottoman instruments\, rare\, pure and ravishing\, the choral sounds of the Brandenburg Choir chanting the poems of Jalaluddin Rumi\, the exotic mystic poet whose combination of richness and bold adaptations of music poetry form the key to his popularity today. \nOttoman Baroque will be mesmerising and spine-tingling. This unique concert experience spurs from a meeting of minds between Serhat Sarpel\, Hakan Talu and Paul Dyer in Istanbul\, where together they devised a program following the path of an ancient16thcentury Ottoman manuscript by Albert Bobowski (Ali Ufki). \nIn a rare appearance in Australia\, the concert will reach a climax with the Whirling Dervishes spinning gracefully into a trance as they purify their heart to commune with the divine in this unique Sufi ceremony. Don’t miss Ottoman Baroque – it will sell out! \n\nThursday 13\, 7pm; Saturday 15\, 7pm & Sunday 16 July 5pm;   MRC Elisabeth Murdoch Hall \nDuration: 1 hour 30 mins (incl. interval) \n\n\n\n\nTickets: Premium $185 – $30

SUMMARY:Australian Brandenburg Orchestra: Spanish Steps
DESCRIPTION:Iconic staircase of destiny and dreams.\nFew places in the world express inspiration and romance the way the Spanish Steps in Rome do\, for centuries a meeting place for painters\, musicians\, poets and lovers. \nThe world’s most famous staircase\, at the base of the Piazza di Spagna in this spectacular concert starring the leading Canadian-American cellist Elinor Frey in her Australian debut. Awarded Quebec’s Opus Prize for ‘Performer of the Year’ in 2021\, Elinor reveals the rich and wondrous sounds of the Baroque cello in rarely performed works by Boccherini and Sammartini. \nThe Italian-born Boccherini’s deep affinity with Spain is vividly alive in his music – the bustle\, distant lulls and night noises of Madrid. Musical connections symbolised by the sweep of the Roman Baroque style Spanish Steps linking the Piazza di Spagna (the Spanish Embassy – the oldest in the world) with the Chiesa di Trinità dei Monti\, one of Rome’s most popular tourist destinations. \nThursday 2\, 7pm; Saturday 4\, 7pm; & Sunday 5\, 5pm  March 2023; Elisabeth Murdoch Hall; Duration: 2 hours (incl. interval) \nTickets: Premium $185; A reserve $165 ($109 Concession) *; B reserve $120 ($79 Concession)\nC reserve $90 ($59 Concession); D reserve $60; E reserve $30
