Victoria Chorale will perform Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle at 5pm Saturday, September 14 at James Tatoulis Auditorium, MLC, Kew. Written in France in the composer’s final years, Petite Mess Solennelle is neither petite nor solemn. It blends operative brilliance with traditional Mass forms resulting in glorious melodies and some rhythms that are almost jazzy! Unlike any other choral work, it has a special place in the repertoire.
Mario Dobernig will conduct this performance which will be accompanied by 2 pianos and harmonium/accordion; the composer’s original scoring.
Joining Victoria Chorale will be soloists Jacqueline Porter; Soprano, Sally-Anne Russell; Mezzo-Soprano, Jiacheng Ding; Tenor and Pelham Andrews; Bass
