Raechel Suh began playing the cello at age eleven and has since performed across diverse settings, from intimate recitals to large orchestral stages in venues such as the Sydney Opera House, Queensland Performing Arts Centre, Hamer Hall, Melbourne Recital Centre, The Royal Concertgebouw, Kurhaus Weisbaden and Beijing Centre for Performing Arts. She has attended the Queensland Conservatorium, Rice University, and the Melbourne Conservatorium where her primary teachers were Molly Kadaurach, Norman Fischer, and Dr. Meta Weiss.
Raechel made her concerto debut in 2018 playing Shostakovich’s Cello Concerto No. 1 with the Queensland Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra. She was the recipient of the Catherine Grace McWilliam Prize, Queensland Conservatorium Piatti Prize, Rotary Club of Bendigo Overseas Study Scholarship, 2018 Australian Concerto Competition Finalist and Most Promising String Player Award, and 2017 Gisborne International Music Competition Semi-Finalist. As an avid orchestral musician, she has served as Principal Cello at the Australian Youth Orchestra programs and has been selected for fellowships with the Melbourne and Adelaide Symphony Orchestras.
Raechel has participated in international music festivals such as the Music Academy of the West where she trained with Alan Stepansky, David Geber, and Rebecca Gilliver, and the Mozarteum International Summer Academy under the tutelage of Giovanni Gnocchi.
