Performing Schubert’s String Quintet in C, D.956, this masterpiece stands as one of the pinnacles in the chamber music repertoire and is regarded as one of the composer’s finest works. Written just two months before his death, Schubert’s final chamber work takes listeners on a journey filled with beautiful soaring tunes and rollicking energy, perfectly highlighting the technical prowess of all five musicians. Joined by guest cellist Rachael Tobin, (Associate Principal Cello, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra), Tobin adds depth and richness to the ensemble, amplifying the quintet’s potency at the bass end.
