This year’s Preston Symphony Orchestra Youth Concerto Competition presents a dazzling range of musical talent in Melbourne. Six soloists aged 18 and under are currently rehearsing with the orchestra in preparation for the competition concert at Darebin Arts Centre on Sunday 8 September.
Their instruments include violin, cello, piano, double bass and bassoon, and they’ll be playing works by Tchaikovsky, Shostakovich and Koussevitzky, alongside Mendelssohn and Weber.
The concert is conducted by Andrew Groch, introduced by Phillip Sametz, and adjudicated by violinist Sophie Rowell.
Tickets are available online and at the door.
