Preston Symphony Orchestra – Collisions

Music has provided an extraordinary opportunity to combine cultural traditions and the next concert by the Preston Symphony Orchestra demonstrates this to the full. It’s an opportunity to hear the third symphony of Black American composer Florence Price alongside Dvořák’s 9th symphony, ‘From the New World’ – both works drawing on the composers’ musical origins, American spirituals in the case of Price, and for Dvořák, the Bohemian folk music of his homeland.  The orchestra is conducted by David Le Guen, and opens with a fanfare composed in 2021 for the inauguration of President Joe Biden.
