Beethoven’s mammoth String Quartet No.7 contains some of his most sublime themes. It is a piece that has the ability to surprise and delight, subverting expectations with heightened drama and technical difficulty.
Finishing with a string quartet by legendary Dutch composer Louis Andriessen. The piece is based on Allegri’s 17th-century choral masterpiece Miserere and explores form and structure from every angle. Together these quartets are a perfect pair, enchanting and astonishing the listener.
