Peninsula Summer Music Festival: Music and Dance – Stephen McIntyre

Music and Dance have always belonged together. Some dances require specific music, and some music is always associated with particular dances. Some of the music in this program will be difficult to dance to – Liszt’s Mephisto Waltz with its storytelling connection to Faust, will be a challenge, because of its speed. Ravel wrote La Valse for Diaghilev’s Russian Ballet, who said it was not danceable. We can probably all have a go at the Brazilian Tango, particularly with a coloured cocktail on board!
