Hailing from Zimbabwe, Nobuntu is an internationally acclaimed all-female a cappella quartet lauded for their ‘rich voices and exhilarating rhythms’ (Sarasota Herald-Tribune). Making their Australian debut at Melbourne Recital Centre, their inventive performances range from traditional Zimbabwean songs to Afro Jazz and Gospel music.
Representing a new generation of young African women singers, Nobuntu’s mission is the belief that music can be a powerful vehicle for change, one that transcends racial, tribal, religious, gender, and economic boundaries.
Immerse yourself in Nobuntu’s pure and soulful voices as the ensemble performs a vibrant program of traditional songs and original arrangements. Featuring minimalist percussion, traditional instruments such as the Mbira (thumb piano), and authentic dance movements, join Nobuntu in this uplifting experience as they celebrate and preserve their culture, beauty, and heritage through art.
