Musica Viva Coffee Concert: Ensemble Liaison

The musicians of Ensemble Liaison bring together expertise gleaned from years of study at some of the world’s greatest musical institutions, in the United States, Russia and Italy. In their hands, the clarinet trio is an instrument of brilliant colour and boundless imagination.

Beethoven’s B-flat Trio is a joyous remnant of a time when woodwind instruments were an exciting new novelty, while Ian Munro’s work written especially for Ensemble Liaison, brings the clarinet trio into the modern day. Completing the program is the trio’s own arrangement of Igor Frolov’s Concert Fantasy on classic Gershwin numbers.
