Since the beginning of time, songmakers and musicians have invented, re-imagined and recreated music. Folk tunes become symphonies and love songs become lullabies, with each version adding another layer.
So what happens when 11 Australian composers each choose a song by the sensational singer and story-teller, Jess Hitchcock, and arrange it for voice, guitar and string quartet? Find out when Jess Hitchcock and the award-winning Penny Quartet perform this exquisite collection of songs at the Edge, Fed Square next Tuesday, 29 October.
Songs including Jess Hitchcock’s ARIA chart-topping Unbreakable and Running in the Dark from her 2019 album sit alongside a stargazing string quartet from British composer Eleanor Alberga. Together they tell a radiant story in words, music and emotions.
Something very special… Jess’s vocal tone is pure and clear, leaving you to hang on every note — Glam Adelaide
