Acclaimed pianist Elyane Laussade plays Mozart Piano Concerto No.17 in G major, K.453, the first of three she will play with the Melbourne Musicians as part of her Mozart Project. The very beautiful concerto was written for Mozart’s favourite pupil, Barbara Ployer, and the last movement is a set of perky variations on a tune he learnt from his pet starling .
The concert includes one of Haydn’s Paris symphonies, No.83 in G minor, “La Poule” and the premiere of a symphony written by Dittersdorf in 1791, the year of Mozart’s death. The three composers were friends who played string quartets together.
