Have your Sunday mornings been missing a certain joie de vivre recently?
As winter turns to spring, we invite you to return with Melbourne Ensemble to Iwaki Auditorium for a program of chamber music written from two distinct eras.
Paul Dean’s Suite for Clarinet and Cello will see MSO Associate Principal Clarinet, Phil Arkinstall and Associate Principal Cello, Rachael Tobin take centre stage, before Dean’s Septet, commissioned specifically for this group of current and former MSO musicians, will continue his legacy as one of Australia’s finest composers.
Rounding out the program is Jean Françaix’s Nonetto, an arrangement of Mozart’s Quintet in E flat major. The Melbourne Ensemble will be joined by two additional players in this arrangement of a 1784 work Mozart, at the time of its premiere, considered “the best thing I have written in my life.”
Join the talented musicians of Melbourne Ensemble for an intimate morning of fine music and fine musicianship.
Sunday 3 September, 11am, Iwaki Auditorium
