Melbourne Conservatorium of Music’s Medieval and Renaissance Ensemble

The MCM Medieval and Renaissance Ensemble presents its final concert of 2016 featuring music commissioned by and composed for members of the powerful central Italian Este family.

Madrigals by Wert, Rore and Willaert, instrumental music by Agricola and Josquin, songs by Martini, Ockeghem, Cara and Tromboncino and motets by Mouton and Palestrina are performed by an ensemble of singers, violas da gamba, keyboards, lutes, recorders, crumhorns and percussion. The concert will also feature readings from the letters of the Este family and from Castiglione’s treatise on court etiquette, Il cortegiano.
