Melbourne Bach Choir: Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana

One of the best-known works in the entire choral repertory will be performed in Melbourne this September. From the opening chorus of O Fortuna – an earworm familiar not only from the concert hall, but also from its use in countless films and commercials – the passion and pace of this music are unstoppable.

Soloists will be soprano Jane Magão (currently touring in Opera Australia’s La Bohème); Melbourne favourite, baritone Christopher Hillier; and tenor Robert Macfarlane in a hilarious cameo as the roasting swan. The concert will also feature the Australian Children’s Choir, making their debut performance with Melbourne Bach Choir, and will be conducted by Rick Prakhoff.

Carmina Burana will be presented in the version for two pianos (Elyane Laussade and Kathryn Pisani) and percussion.
