Melba Hall Lunch Hour Concert Series: Trio Anima Mundi

February 26 @ 1:10 pm - 2:00 pm

Free
Trio Anima Mundi – Piano Trio Archaeology

International award-winning ensemble Trio Anima Mundi present two dynamic works from their ongoing Piano Trio Archaeology findings. Rebecca Clarke’s Piano Trio (1921) is striking in its evocative harmonies and energetic rhythms. Carl Reissiger’s Op.25 Piano Trio is the first of 28 ‘jewel-like’ works he penned for this genre, grand and spectacular in its virtuosic Romanticism.

Trio Anima Mundi

Kenji Fujimura, piano; Rochelle Ughetti, violin; Noella Yan, cello

International award-winning Trio Anima Mundi is one of Australia’s best-known chamber groups. Founded in 2008 initially to give back to society through fundraising performance activities – and hence the name of the group – Trio Anima Mundi has expanded its scope to give back through other means, such as the preservation of cultural heritage. It has become renowned for its ‘Piano Trio Archaeology’ – the unearthing and performing forgotten works – and presenting these ‘findings’ alongside masterpieces of the piano trio genre and freshly-minted contemporary compositions.

Praised as a “trio of vitality, charm and aplomb” (The Age), the Trio’s members – Kenji Fujimura (piano), Rochelle Ughetti (violin), and Noella Yan (cello) – are seasoned performers and have gained a reputation for their sumptuous sonorities, immaculate ensemble, and masterly interpretation.
