Fairy tales and folk songs.
The Sutherland Trio brings together the unique talent of three of Australia’s most distinguished musicians: Caroline Almonte (piano), Elizabeth Sellers (violin) and Molly Kadarauch (cello).
Featuring Prokofiev, Mazzoli, Brahms and Armstrong, Associate Principal Violist of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra Fiona Sargeant joins The Sutherland Trio for a program music inspired by great literature.
The famous fairy tale Cinderella is the basis for Prokofiev’s magnificent ballet score from which the beautiful Adagio for cello is taken.
Folk music, both urban and regional can be traced in Brahms Piano Quartet Op.60 and in Missy Mazzoli’s Lies You Can Believe In, which explores the intricacies of an embellished story.
The poetry of Robert Burns lives on in Armstrong’s beautiful rendition of My Love is Like a Red, Red Rose.
