KIAZMA Piano Duo highlights the brilliant musical synergy of pianists Aura Go and Tomoe Kawabata. Equally at home in two piano and four-hand repertoire, KIAZMA exemplifies the intimacy, intricacy and dynamism that make the piano duo such a unique art form.
Mozart and his gifted older sister Maria Anna (Nannerl) performed duets together all over Europe, greatly popularising the artform. Through his sonatas of symphonic proportions and probing depth, Mozart explored the remarkable possibilities of the genre and moved four-hand music in the direction that Franz Schubert would continue.
Beginning with 9-year-old Mozart’s delightful C Sonata KV 19d, the piece traces an extraordinary trajectory to the startlingly profound Sonata in F KV 497.
Carl Vine’s Sonata for piano four hands is a significant contribution to the four-hand repertory, highlighting the remarkable energy, vitality and intricacy of the medium. The duos masterful movements and intricate connection are profoundly affecting for any audience member to behold.
