Kapsberger & the Mysterious Man

An Italian Baroque feast of passion and intrigue.
Melbourne’s Continuo Collective carry on their quest to explore rediscovered and rarely heard works from the early life of the guitar.

In this concert, Samantha Cohen (lute) and Geoffrey Morris (guitar) are joined by Jane Edwards (soprano) for an Italian feast of passion and intrigue from the turbulent years of the early Baroque.

Featuring Girolamo Kapsberger’s Libro secoondo d’aie and guitar music from the mystifying Ferdinando Valdambrini, who is thought to be Kapsberger’s student, admirer or alias, Continuo Collective demonstrates that the art of basso continuo is a never ending exploration of possibilities.
