Celebrated universally for her luminous tone and trailblazing vocal agility, Australian soprano Siobhan Stagg’s prowess and presence invigorates audiences and critics alike, who marvel at her ‘remarkable purity of tone’ (The Australian) and ‘ability to sing with both thrilling frisson and total tranquility’ (Sydney Morning Herald).
Stagg’s career ascension over the last decade has been nothing short of impressive. Since completing her formal studies in 2013, she joined the historically resonant Deutsche Oper Berlin until 2019 where her roles included Pamina in Die Zauberflöte, Tytania in A Midsummer Nights’ Dream, Gilda in Rigoletto, Micaëla in Carmen, Adele in Die Fledermaus, Zerlina in Don Giovanni, Musetta in La Bohème and Waldvogel and Woglinde in The Ring Cycle conducted by Sir Simon Rattle. From the opera house to the concert circuit and beyond, Stagg’s recent concert season highlights include performances with the Berliner Philharmoniker, Chamber Orchestra of Europe and BBC Proms with the BBC Symphony Orchestra and Simone Young.
In this recital Siobhan Stagg partners with long-time collaborator and acclaimed Australian pianist Timothy Young to traverse the beautiful terrain of French art song – a must-experience opportunity to hear Siobhan’s crystalline interpretations of works by Duparc and Messiaen, coupled with the Australian premiere of Kathleen Tagg’s compelling new work This Be Her Verse in the acoustic intimacy of Elisabeth Murdoch Hall.
