Hoang Pham’s annual Concerto Concert returns this year featuring the Heidelberg Symphony conducted by Christopher Kopke. Two piano concertos that never fail to delight an audience are on this program: Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue and Rachmaninoff’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini. Entertaining, witty, scintillating and virtuosic all in one, these Rhapsodies contain exciting music and some of the most famous melodies ever written. This concert also features symphonic works including the Australian premiere of American composer Michael Daugherty’s Night Owl, alongside Rachmaninoff’s Symphonic Dances.
