This July the HSO presents a program of delicious textures, featuring Hindemith’s homage to Weber – the ‘Symphonic Metamorphosis’. Each movement cleverly varies a Weber theme, with highlights including the fabulously energising ‘Marsch’, and an absolutely heart melting flute solo in the ‘Andantino’. Our wonderful Soloist in Residence Natsuko Yoshimoto returns in this concert with the lyrical and romantic Prokofiev Violin Concerto no. 2 (put your seatbelts on for the finale!), and Sculthorpe’s reflective ‘Irkanda IV’ for solo violin, string orchestra and percussion.
