Presented by Heidelberg Choral Society and Orchestra
Composed in 1741, and premiered in Dublin in 1742, Handel’s Messiah remains a much-loved oratorio and the single most-performed piece of classical music worldwide. Part German passion, English church anthem and Italian opera, Messiah traces the life of Jesus Christ in music that is dramatic, effective, profoundly touching and deeply spiritual. In this oratorio for chorus, orchestra and soloists, the libretto by Charles Jennens is as elegant as it is minimal.
Conducted by Peter Bandy, join with the Heidelberg Choral Society, soloists Teresa Ingrilli (soprano), Dimity Shepherd (mezzo soprano), Timothy Reynolds (tenor), and Oliver Mann (baritone) to hear Handel at his most brilliant
