Handel’s Messiah at Melbourne Town Hall

December 11, 2016 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Royal Melbourne Philharmonic presents its world-record breaking 237th performance of Handel’s immortal oratorio Messiah. Featuring a star-studded cast of soloists, and the magnificent RMP Choir and Orchestra, the performance will be directed by RMP Chief Conductor Andrew Wailes, one of Australia’s leading exponents of the work.

“The Royal Melbourne Philharmonic Choir and Orchestra delivered a vibrant and polished reading of Handel’s masterpiece. Music director Andrew Wailes conducted with precision and infectious energy, urging the chamber-sized orchestra and 100-strong choir to stirring renditions of the big choir pieces including the famous “Hallelujah”, “Glory to God” and “For unto us a Child is born” choruses. Wailes favouring brisk tempos made
for very exciting listening…” The Age
