Yeol Eum Son’s graceful and timeless interpretations have moved audiences all over the world. Highly regarded as a brilliant virtuoso, she strikes a rare balance between enormous kinetic energy and substantial gravity. Yeol Eum performs all over the world as a recitalist and soloist with orchestras.
Her debut performance in Elisabeth Murdoch Hall for Melbourne Recital Centre’s Great Performers series explores the infinite art of musical variation. From Haydn’s melancholy Andante with Variations in F minor, Tchaikovsky’s charming and unpretentious Theme & Original Variations in F, one of Pärt’s first ‘Tintinnabuli’ compositions Variations for the Healing of Arinushka and the late Ukrainian composer Nikolai Kapustin’s heavily jazz influenced Variations.
