French Virtuosity

Lavishness of French musical life.
Kegelstatt Ensemble embarks on an exploration of the massive stylistic changes in French musical life surrounding the First World War.

In this program, the 19th-century lavishness of Franck and Alkan is juxtaposed with the more casual note-spinning of Jean Françaix.

All three pieces exceedingly virtuosic in their own way, but speak with various levels of glory, irony and regret.

Kegelstatt Ensemble comprises gifted and passionate young musicians who work joyfully in presenting chamber music masterworks for unique groups on their instruments. The themes of friendship and pleasure are central to the Kegelstatt philosophy, in line with their namesake piece – The Kegelstatt Trio by Mozart – which was composed as a present for two dear friends.
