Alfred Lord Tennyson’s epic 1864 poem tells the tragic story of shipwrecked Enoch Arden, who survives over eleven years lost on an island, only to finally make his way back to his home and family to discover they have moved on from him, presuming him dead.
Richard Strauss set it for narrator and piano, and it is a beautifully dramatic work rarely heard on the concert stage, yet with a history of performance by celebrated actors and pianists. Renowned Australian stage and screen actor Paul English is joined by internationally award-winning concert pianist Coady Green in this stunning adaptation by Richard Strauss of Tennyson’s epic poem.
