Ensemble Liaison & Friends is a unique concert series presented by three internationally acclaimed musicians – David Griffiths (clarinet), Svetlana Bogosavljevic (cello) and Timothy Young (piano). Their first concert series at the Edge, Federation Square in 2007 established Ensemble Liaison as a tour de force, renowned for imaginative and innovative programming, setting the trend for brilliant collaborations with leading artists.
As suggested by their name, collaborations form the basis of their artistic and musical vision. Over the following 19 seasons they have collaborated with many of the finest musicians, singers, dancers, actors, lighting designers, puppeteers, conductors, choirs and improvisers from across Australia and beyond. Critics have hailed their performances as: spellbinding, flawless, a revelation, moving, joyous, polished, engaging, powerful and having boundless lyricism.
For the first concert of their 2025 series, Ensemble Liaison is joined by internationally acclaimed Australian violinist Brigid Coleridge. The program explores interconnected voices from the 20th century: Khachaturian’s Trio for clarinet, violin, and piano, spanning Eastern European melodies and rich rhythmic textures; Ravel’s Violin Sonata No.2, a masterful blend of impressionist harmony and lyrical intensity that bridges classical and modern styles; and Shostakovich’s Piano Trio No.2 in E minor, a profound reflection of emotional depth and resilience amid turbulent times.
