Formed in 2014, the husband and wife duo is comprised of Australian guitarist Daniel Nistico and American flautist Marla Nistico. Duo Vela’s main goals are to break the “classical norm” and challenge the traditional audience & performer relationship. This is done by:
staying as true as possible to the performance practices of the musical origins (i.e. Baroque style/Piazzolla/etc..), speaking and interacting with the audience all throughout the performance, encouraging the audience to ask questions, take pictures and record as
they wish, and by the occasional use of multi-media to enhance the audio and visual experience for the audience.
