The Melbourne Musicians directed by Frank Pam present a rare opportunity to hear internationally acclaimed guitarists Slava and Leonard Grigoryan in Concertos by Handel and Vivaldi (arranged by their father Edward Grigoryan) with a string orchestra in an intimate venue with excellent acoustics. They will also play Duos specially arranged for them by Edward.
The Duo was nominated for an Aria Award in 2017, but Slava was also nominated and eventually won the Aria for his CD of Bach Cello Suites on Barotone Guitar. This year he won the Aria again for the Second Volume of Bach Suites. Despite this he now performs almost exclusively with his brother Leonard and has a very busy schedule concertising and touring widely across Australia and overseas.
The orchestra will perform Austrian dance music by Lanner, Schubert and Johann Strauss Senior and Junior as a tribute to Frank Pam’s Viennese heritage and his birthday.
