Cristofori piano recital with Jacqueline Ogeil

September 28 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm
$25 – $30
Piano Sonatas by Ludovico Giustini (1685–1743), Sebastian de Albero (1722–1756), Giovanni Benedetto Platti (1697–1763), Domenico Scarlatti (1685–1757)
This elegant program explores early classicism in the keyboard literature and the new expressive sound world of the first piano, performed by the Founder and Artistic Director of the Festival, Jacqueline Ogeil. Enter the sound world of 1700, where the beginnings of a classical approach to music was being explored, and where a keyboard instrument was invented that could shape and shade dynamics. Bartolomeo Cristofori invented the piano in the 1690s and made his last instrument in 1729/1730. The Cristofori reproduction played by Jacqueline Ogeil in this recital is one of only two copies in the world. In this program Scarlatti is joined by other Italian composers who were finding individual ways of responding to the piano’s expressive capabilities.
When: Sunday 28th September, 3.00pm
Where: All Saints East St Kilda
Tickets at the door (no EFTPOS) or on Trybooking
$30 full / $25 concession; students: granted free entry with a valid student card.
