Boroondara Eisteddfod Piano Concerto Award Final

September 21 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
$22 – $26

The young finalists in the Boroondara Eisteddfod piano competition will be adjudicated in a stand-alone concert performance with the Camerata Orchestra.

Melissa Gu age 15,  Charlie Wu age 12 and Luke Yun Zhang age 26 have triumphed in what was a very high calibre of competition across the Open-age heats and will perform for the honour of the 2025 Piano Concerto prize.

The event will be MC’d by Julie Houghton with performances adjudicated by Coady Green.

Taking place in the grand hall of Hawthorn Arts Centre, the coveted Piano Concerto Award spotlights the upcoming generation of concert pianists. The special event offers a chance for the public to preview young artists, before they one day capture the hearts of classical music audiences nationally and internationally.

The three finalists will be accompanied by the much-loved Camerata Orchestra conducted by Doug Heywood OAM, who will together present an inspiring afternoon of piano concerto favourites by Saint-Saëns, Rachmaninoff and Chopin.

Repertoire:

Felix Mendelssohn – Saltarello from Symphony No 4 Op. 90 “Italian”

Frederic Chopin – Piano Concerto Op 22 No 2, 1st and 2nd movement
